Caelva (Storyboard/Worldbuilding thread)
this is the realm of Caelva; a rough, wild land that was ravaged by a great evil 200 years ago. There are various small towns and villages around the place, but more often than not you'll come across a bandit's hideout or a den of vicious beasts. The ruins of the old world dot the landscape, and they're either home to dangerous monsters, highwaymen, or ancient treasure.
more to be added when I think of it, or when I feel like it

Re: Caelva (Storyboard/Worldbuilding thread)
The Magic Of Caelva:
The magic of this Caelva's world can be put into three categories, listed below. No one can use more than one kind of magic.
Spirit Magic: Considered to be gifts bestowed upon people by a higher power, this magic can't be taught. It involves things like special abilities or powers. For example, The beast echoes employed by my character are considered spirit magic. Another example would be the ability to heal wounds and cure ailments. It is said that this type of magic was created and given to men by the gods themselves. This magic is unique, in that it is possible to pass this down to your children through birth.
Elemental Magic: This is a very ancient, wide-ranging type of magic. It can range anywhere from creating a little flame on your finger to creating a violent thunderstorm to strike down an army. This is a very difficult and time-consuming type of magic to master, and aspiring users usually see their lives consumed by pursuing it. This category also includes conjuration as a subsection. These casters are able to summon elementals, non-living constructs. Novices can conjure wood and water elementals, the more advanced they get, they'll summon stone, ice, ore, fire, and finally storm elementals. These constructs will carry out every command given to them to the best of their abilities. It is said that this kind of magic was created by the first men.
Black Magic: sometimes referred to as blood magic, and is considered by most people to be dark and evil. It involves the raising of dead, the summoning of demons, and the application of curses and hexes. It is said that this kind of magic was created by the Cursed God and his devil servants.
Potioncraft: This art is not technically a school of magic, but deserves an honorable mention. Used mainly by chemists and witches, users of this craft takes ingredients found all over the world, magical or otherwise, and turn them into useful potions or deadly poisons.

Re: Caelva (Storyboard/Worldbuilding thread)
The Geography of Caelva:
Interestingly, the world of this story is actually called Aunimat. Caelva is just one region, and west, separated by mountains, is Aurem, a more fortified and re-developed nation known for its militarism and craftsmanship. To the east of Caelva is the Valka Sea, which borders both Caelva and the nation of Valka, a rough, mountainous region consisting of a group of towns and fishing villages whose jarls agree with each other just enough to sometimes call themselves a government. When they're not raiding each other, they're raiding villages on the Caelvan side of the sea. The northern reaches of Caelva stretch all the way up into the mountain ranges and snowy tundras to the north, where it also borders with Valka. The tribes and clans that call these lands on either side of the border home have more or less a truce as life up there is hard enough battling the elements. To the south of Caelva is a country called Praxis, a varied landscape of grasslands, forests, and rivers that is home to a population mostly of traders and hunters. Further south, beyond Praxis, the dry grasslands turn to the rough foothills of the Pramin Mountain range, beyond which lies a vast desert expanse, beyond which nothing is known by northern cartographers.

Re: Caelva (Storyboard/Worldbuilding thread)
The Creatures of Caelva
This world is filled with the everyday animals you'd find on Earth. It also has all the mythological animals and beasts the people classify as monsters, but they're of course different in this story.
The following are just examples, and do not represent a complete list of Aunimat's beastiary.
Dragons: the dragons in Caelva resemble asian lungs, and are very powerful and intelligent, though they don't speak the human tongue. There are a a few different types of dragons that use elemental attacks suggested by their names; for instance, Fire Dragon, Storm Dragon, Water Dragon, and Spirit Dragon(these are extremely rare, and are venerated as gods by those lucky enough to meet them. Legend has it that they've been known to grant gifts of spirit magic to those they deem worthy.
Werewolves: This one's pretty straightforward. Get bitten by one, turn into one every full moon, hurt by silver.
Vampires: Again, standard issue. Hurt by sunlight, drinks blood for sustenance. They live forever, but slowly grow more ghastly and beastial as time goes on. Elder vampires can barely resemble humans if they've existed long enough.
Undead: Apart from Vampries, undead are animated thralls brought back by necromancers to carry out their demands. They can look like anything from freshly-dead corpses to skeletons. Additionally, a necromancer can also bring beasts back, but as the beasts get more powerful, they require stronger magic to reanimate them. Ex. a novice necromancer couldn't reanimate a dragon.
Fairies: These are small, lithe feminine creatures that fly around and use illusory magic. They have Long, iridescent insect wings and faces that look like they all wear stone-like masks, with a crown of feathers and only their mouths showing, which hide two rows of sharp teeth. They have skin colors ranging from light grey to pale blues, greens, and pinks. Their bodies resemble thin, young human females but with no human genitalia. Here's the kicker; they're carnivorous predators.
Basilisks: These are basically large, serpentine lizards with feathered tails, and the head of a monstrous-looking rooster. It's dumb and carnivorous, and its gaze turns its victims to stone.
Megafauna: In the northern reaches of Aunimat, megafauna such as mammoths, saber tooth cats, giant sloths, and much more roam wild. And since one third of Caelva lies in the northern climate, the snowy forests, plains, and mountains of northern Caelva are home to these beasts.
Human subraces: There are many human subraces in Aunimat, which will henceforth be referred to as simply races, that are home to certain regions. Northrons hail from the northern regions, and are more resistant to the cold, cold-based magic, and are generally physically stronger. They're found in northern Caelva. In the central regions; the plains, rolling hills, and rivers of middle Aunimat dwell the Castells, a proud, industrious race. They are proud warriors, and even prouder bakers. They can be found in central Caelva. Southern Caelva is home to vast wetlands, and wild forests. It's also home to the Elreeds, a race of hunters, rangers, trappers, and fishers that did the impossible, and settled in the rough wildlands and boggy swamps and made their mark selling both lumber and skins. The Northrons, Castells, and Elreeds are all races that are native/live primarily in Caelva, but there are notable races that are foreign to it. These include, but are not limited to the Valkans, and the Auremine. The Valkans hail from across the Valkan sea on the western side of Caelva. They made their mark as fishers, sailers, cartographers, and raiders. To the east is a vast country called Aurem, separated from Caelva by an tall mountain range. It is roughly three times the size of Caelva, and is united under the Auremine race, specifically a dynasty of emperors(current ruler: Emperor Mal of the Ruang Dynasty.) Aurem is dotted by mountains and fields, and has the most mines of any country in Aunimat. Auremine made their mark in the world by being exceptional blacksmiths and craftsmen, and even moreso by being conquerors. The people of Praxis are referred to as Praxim, and most tend to be hunters, trappers, and traders.
The Spirit Lords: There are certain powerful, ancient spirits who lord over their respective biomes, for the whole world, but only a few dwell in Caelva.
-The Forest Lord: A giant stag with overgrown moss and fungi on its back, dwelling in Oligard Forest in southern Caelva.
-The Mountain Lord: A giant eagle, all white with wings as large as a barn, dwelling in Doleran Mountains in northern Caelva.
-The Sea Lord: A giant squid, living in the deepest trench of the Valka Sea.
the existence of these spirits is a rumor to the common folk of Caelva. Told as jokes in inns, or cautionary tales told to children.
if there's anything you think I forgot to mention here, or beasts that you want me to translate to Caelva lore, just let me know

Alternate weapons: A long, steel knife
