Fullmetal Alchemist story

Tyler: So what's gonna happen to her since her only family's a couple of monsters?

Mustang: We figure out a way to turn her back into a human. After which, she'll be turned over to an orphanage.
Natalie: But...what if she can't be turned back?
Mustang: I...don't know. It's a very complicated situation.

Tyler: So try to uncomplicate it for us

Mustang: Listen, Chaos Alchemist. The only thing you need to know is that she'll be kept safe and happy. This isn't some prison, and she hasn't done anything wrong. Rest assured in that. *walks away, in Yeoman's direction*
Natalie: Man, if only I could get away with talking like that to the fuhrer.

Tyler: I'm guessing that's because I kinda remind him of the Full Metal.

Natalie: Psh. You wish, fanboy. *heads toward the library*

Tyler: Well what reasons can you think of? *Follows her*

Natalie: I mean you did kinda get in his face about that, chaos boy.

Tyler: Yeah, kinda like Ed. And is that supposed to be an attempt to insult me?

Natalie: You figure it out. :P Also, "Ed"? What, are you on a shortened first name basis with the guy?

Tyler: I just prefer using shortened names. Why even bother bringing that up?

Natalie: Jeez, why so defensive? All I said was you have a crush on Edward Elric!

Tyler: Except I don't. +-,-

Natalie: Sure sure.
In the library
Natalie: Hey so I have a question. Do you have to use knives for alkahestry circles to do that stuff? I've heard about Shingese people doing that.

Tyler: Well all I've read from my mother's alkahestry notes was that there needed to be a second point to act as an output.

I thought it was an sh sound, not a hard sh sound
Natalie: Second point? What do you mean?

Tyler: Here, perhaps it'd better to demonstrate.
He takes two pieces of paper and draws an alkahestry transmutation circle on them before placing one of his knives on one of it before going a short distance away and activates the transmutation circle he brought with him, turning the knife on the first bit of paper into a little bird.
Tyler: As I said, a second point. If I was doing alchemy, I'd have to put the knife on the circle I brought with me.

Natalie: So...why a knife?

Tyler: What do you mean? If you meant for the transmutation, it's because I doubt the staff would like the table being used for a transmutation. If you meant in general, it's so I can have a method of attack that doesn't involve my alchemy.

Natalie: Hm. How many knives do you have? And where do you get them all? And keep them?

Tyler: I mostly make them from the floors and walls, but I keep a few up my sleeves just in case.

Natalie: Heh. Must be constraining, using a form of alchemy that requires so many knives!

Tyler: I have other forms of alchemy, ones that don't need knives.

Natalie: Yknow I never thought someone could use more than one type of alchemy. Was it hard to learn?

Tyler: Not really, it was just like learning alchemy; though getting the base concept of each one to work together was kinda difficult.
