Para Natra Empty Para Natra

This is where I'll be recording ideas for the personal story I've been thinking about, and a place to reference ideas in case of ChatRP plotlines involving Para Natra or standalone stories.
=========
So this is a story conceived before I played post-apocalyptic games, but ironically seems to draw a lot from Stalker/Survarium/Nether. It had a successful past in earlier forums, and was originally about a reverse tarp and her bf exploring a torn landscape corrupted by some strange force. It destroyed man-made structures and distorted the natural laws of the universe to bring about a nightmarish apocalypse. This only happened in the West(ern Hemisphere) in the Eastern continents they were hit just as hard by strange phenomena, but they heavily employed sentient machines to quickly deal with the threats. You can see where that's going. The machines enslaved the humans or destroyed them, taking their cities for themselves. Over time the machines developed their own cultures, and began to take an interest in studying the anomalies created by the corruption.

After helping lift some of the corruption's influence in the West, the characters from the original story went across the sea to see what happened to the Eastern countries. That's where it ends, I'm sure they'll make a cameo though.
=========
Characters in this story use their normal names unless joining a scavenging group. Scavengers are groups of wanderers who harvest mutated plants and animal parts, or record data about anomalies. The few remaining scientists pay a high price for these things, and any other strange objects. In scavenger groups the founders use their original names, where noobies are given an appropriate term to label them as new. Sometimes the term is derogatory. The only exceptions are when mercenaries or wanderers who have made names for themselves join a group. They are usually referred by an alias or title given to them by others.

Depending on their deeds or crimes, a person's alias or title varies. It can be a literal rank in a paramilitary group or a nickname, or a real title such as "Duke". Such people are expected to have great competence in some respect, and are initially observed closely to determine if they deserve the alias/title or not. Mostly because many people try to lie, using a fake, impressive title to gain respect they don't deserve. With longer titles, many people abbreviate it in some way.

Example Aliases/Titles: Empress of Fairwind, Angel, Black, Bringer of Rain, The Surgeon, Metal, Providence.

The military is scarcely seen in the West. The Eastern Coast of North America is the only place they can be found(in the Western Hemisphere). Mostly to guard against mechanical invaders, mutants, or the possessed. The surviving humans in Asia and Europe tend to mostly be military. In the wake of the apocalypse, many people went to less inhabited regions to evade hostile creatures and bandits. There is an initiative in the military factions to colonize the northernmost regions of the world to regain a stable foothold and reclaim the Earth. There are rumors that the corruption has had less of an effect on those regions.
=========
Examples of anomalies would be something like....a cluster of tornadoes bound together by a singularity, where the tornadoes do not merge, but stay separate, flailing around like tendrils, tearing through everything around them. Or a create who resembles an elemental. Ghosts are common, and are technically an anomaly. The Western half of North America is covered in a fungal forest, the fungi being as durable as steel, releasing fungi that can turn people into zombies capable of complex combat maneuvers. They can even coordinate with each other. They are identified by glowing green at night, and the way they shamble. May or may not moan. Bodies that have been controlled for a longer time tend to walk normally, communicate with normal humans, and are seen as field commanders at times, implying the fungi can acquire sentience over a period of time of possessing a sentient body. It is unknown if they are individuals or are part of a hive mind.

Large bodies of water sometimes solidify in patches. There are well-known "bridges" between all of the continents depending on the moon's position.

You guys can suggest anomalies if you want. There's really no limit as far as they are concerned.

I'm going to add artifacts. That was an amazing idea from the Stalker universe, and it will fit in well here. Artifacts in this story are ordinary and sometimes not-so-ordinary items that have been changed so much by corruption that they have borderline magical properties. They are invaluable and are worth a small fortune. They generate corruption and so one must be properly geared or have immense willpower to make use of such things without dying in agony, losing their mind, or becoming possessed by a demon.
=========
Cities and Townships

Fairwind - A mountain-based metropolis, the only one of its kind in the United States. Difficult to reach due to being in the fungal forest, but spores cannot rise high enough to affect the city. They are thriving and work based on a monarchy. It is run by an Empress. Currently the Empress is known outside of the metropolis by aliases such as "Valor" or "Angel". Naturally she is known for her generosity and kindness, as well as courage in battle. She is known to be in possession of an artifact.

=========
Themes Covered

Angels, Demons, Deities in general
OBE/Astral Projection, energy transference and general metaphysics, their relation to "magic" and technology.
Aliens, Artificial Intelligence, Post-Apocalyptic survival/psychology

Para Natra Empty Re: Para Natra

Religions will work in Para Natra like Covenants do in the Souls series. Most people are either devout/zealots, or atheists.

Christianity will be a sort of Paladin Order thing. Its devout will radiate a glow that incinerates the unholy in close contact. Naturally the most powerful and zealous will have a greater area of effect.

Satanists will draw greater pleasure from their hedonistic and unbound lifestyles, and have greater luck in criminal activities.

Buddhists are affected by ailments and psychic assaults to a lesser degree than most.

It depends on which Native American religion used, but I assume most are very in-tune with ancestral spirits and nature. Skilled shamanistic types can call ancestral spirits to their aid and spirits of Nature.

I don't know anything about the rest, so they'll be done in due time. In the story all Religions will hold credence, and as far as divine beings are concerned, the spread of their religion is important because when people stop believing in a religion, all of its aetherial qualities will cease to exist.
