Heroes of Erenvale

The land of Erenvale has recently, in the last hundred years or so, finished with what you would call their "dark ages", a time of plagues, famine, and religious inquisition. Now, the halt of spiritual persecution has paved the road for new ideas, new advances in technology and medicine(paired with healing magic, of course) and led the Kingdom into a new age, a rebirth, a Renaissance.

It is close to dusk, and the baker town of Linesse is celebrating the Midsummer Holiday, and instead of waste and bodies, the streets are filled with flowers, playing children, and the welcoming scent of fresh-baked bread. In the fields, the townspeople have erected a Midsummer Totem, a large, branched caber wreathed in flowers, clovers, and leaves, paying homage to the Harvest Goddess. Around it are pavilions and tents, with vendors handing out cakes and treats to the fairgoers, barrels and kegs of ale, wine, and mead, and a band of minstrels playing merry songs to usher in the harvest. Around the Midsummer Totem, the townspeople dance and sing, all their troubles forgotten. Among the crowd, a man in a dark green feathered hat and traveler's cloak dances with a lovely maiden of honey-colored hair, wearing nothing but a flowered wreath and a white silk dress, slightly transparent in the light of the setting sun.
maiden: We don't see many travelers in Linesse! *laughs as she steps in a circle around the man, and clasps hands with him* except for those who come only for our bread, then leave without so much as a second thought!
man: Ha! Brutish tumbleweeds! I prefer to take my time, to...*sips from his mug of wine* savor the beauty.

Also among the crowd is a baby blue colored Slime fingering though a bunch of coin purses.

Kyla: Hehehehe, aside from the good bread, this festival sure has turned up a portly profit. ^ ^

Clash:This festival is good for business.*sales another sword,*

maiden: I must say Cyrill, you are not like other men!
Cyrill: Ah my dear maiden, that is because I am not other men. I am only I, and I happen to find you the most enchanting young flower I have ever seen! *kisses her hand, with each step of the dance, getting closer to Kyla, his coin purse protruding forth unknowingly*

Kyla:Oh, you're just beckoning to me, aren't you? *giggles and slinks closer to Cyrill and snatches up his coin purse*

(just then, a bright flash explodes into existence in the middle of the crowd, casting temporary daylight on the field. Standing, there, in the epicenter of the flash, is a skeleton. It screamed, which seemed to bring forth a shriek that triggered a primal fear in the minds of the fairgoers that's not been felt since ancient cavemen fled from terrible beasts. Time seemed to stand still. The band stopped playing. The people stopped dancing. The skeleton scanned the crowd, detected the nearest gap, and ran for it, causing various shouts from the people, to the effect of "by the gods", or "monster! monster!" And after shoving through and knocking over a vendor's stall, the skeleton bounded over it, making for the town, and plunged the festival into chaos, with people running in every direction. A strongman who was until previously displaying his skill in lifting barrels of pickles, barreled through, knocking over Cyrill and Kyla.)
Cyrill: Fah! bleh! Wha-what's going on?! *looks over to Kyla* Who are you?! What are you doing with my coin purse?!

Kyla: Wha? It's my coin purse-I mean, I mean. What the devil's going on here?! *gets up* I was only here for the fair and nothing more. Maybe the bread and fine mead or beer or whatever.

Cyrill: Rrgh..*gets up with a roll, and looks around for the maiden to whom he was talking* Um...Hello? m....maiden? *to himself* Blast, what was her name? Uh.....
(close to the former epicenter of the past explosion of light, there appeared a regular, oaken door. Regular if not for the lack of surrounding walls. It opened, becoming a threshold to another location entirely, what looks like the inside of a castle or keep, but filled with black smoke, exiting through the door and out into the fairgrounds air. Through the smoke steps a ravenhaired girl, wearing Wizard Journeyman red robes and a red wizard's hat. She looks around, surveying the chaos, and comes upon Clash. Behind her, the door closes and disappears in a cloud of green smoke)
wizard: You, Half-orc! You saw the skeleton pass, where is it now? I must know now!

Clash: It got lost in the chaos. I didn't catch where it went after that. And the name is Clash.

wizard: Dammit, man! I care not for your name! Do you not realize what just transpired?! The most powerful necromancer ever to be spawned into the world has just spawned himself into the world! Argh! In which direction did he escape?!

Cyrill: Umm..uh..*looks around frantically, then turns to Kyla* Did you see where she went?

Clash:That way*pointing through the crowd*

Kyla: I think she went off in that direction. *points westward*

wizard: No, it went into the town! You look capable in a fight. I might need your help. *runs off into the town*

Cyrill: Ah, she went into the town! Hey, wait! Gimme back my coin purse!

Clash follows too with a his battleaxe at the ready.

Kyla: oh fine. *gives Cyrill a random other coin purse*

Cyrill: *grabs the purse, and fastens it back on his belt* Thank you. Picking pockets at a festival. Tsk tsk.
(a few guards round up the citizens, and corral them into the town, including Cyrill and Kyla)

(In the town, the wizard produces a strange, compass-like device from her vestments)
wizard: This is a necrometer. It should track the residual magical effects leftover from the Necromancer's arrival.

Kyla: I just wanted some money to get to the next town is all.

Cyrill: Why? What's wrong with Linesse? Don't like bread?

Clash:I see. And it's use?

Kyla: Well...Um...No...I sort of...stole bread from the Baker's Guild here...so the leader's been looking for me....

~In town~

The guild leader and mayor of Linesse, Jonathan Wheatley oversees the corraling of the citizens while stroking his white, fluffy beard.

Jonathan: Yes, yes. Guard! How goes the search for the festival's disturbance?

guard: sir! *strikes his own helmet in a failed salute* The guards have the skellington pinned in the town Hall of the Dead!
guard 2: the doors are locked shut, sir, and we've been hearing some...foul noises from inside!

wizard: To locate necrotic disturbances, I thought that was obvious.

Jonathan: Good work, men. Is there any one here in town capable of dealing with the creature?

oh hey, I'm the head of the guild lol

guard: Not as such, sir. The town priest is on holiday.
(the wizard approaches Jonathan and the guards)
wizard: I demand to know the reason why your goons have played the part of massive fools by chasing the Necromancer into the Hall of the Dead!

Jonathan: A necromancer in the hall of the dead?! By the gods! You fools! You let it create an army of our ancestors!

Clash:Is there anything we can do to stop this thing?
