Lore: 3boot(it's like the Reboot, but 2 more!)

(after recalling her ice elemental, and summoning her earth one, Layla and Hana ride on the tortoise, clinging to its shell as it climbs up through the tunnel the scorpion dug. They emerge to find the scorpion dead, with Baird sitting on top of it)
Layla: ...did it give you much trouble?
Baird: Nah, it pretty much died when it got to the surface. What in the hells was this thing?

Hana: The spire that created all of the spiders, I'd guess since the spire seemed to have shifted into that thing.

Baird: *grimaces* Ugh, ain't that horrible. *gets up* Well, we better head in, the sun's setting. No use staying out here all night.

~later that night, on the roof of the inn~
(Layla is sitting cross-legged on the roof, her hands intertwined in her robe sleeves, staring up at the sky and chanting softly)

Hana: *comes up from behind Layla and sits next to her* Hm. *looks out at the night sky* What are you doing, Layla?

Layla: Oh..o///o uh...praying to Neurum, the goddess of the night and stars. It is customary to do a prayer of thanks to her each dusk, and a prayer of thanks to Amarat, the god of the sun and day, each dawn.

Hana: I see. In the Sunrise region, the goddess of the sun is our most important goddess and we thank her each morning too.

Layla: *looks at Hana* Do you know any offensive spells?

Hana; *shakes her head* No, I do not. I was raised to be a miko, but never accepted the offer. I wanted to be a good housewife and find a mate. I was ecstatic to go off on my ritualistic journey of womanhood.

Layla: ? What is a miko?

Hana: It is a shrine maiden. Also a woman who devotes her life to using her powers to help others who need it. I'd like to do that too, but I do not wish to be a miko. It's weird, I understand.

Layla: *smiles* I do not find that weird. You are just doing what you want to do, and that is what is important. Unlike in Virenni, where people's fates are decided at birth...

Hana: I see. *hugs Layla* You'll find your parents again. I'm sure of it.

Chris:*climbs up onto the roof*Hana's right.

razor, you sure know how to intrude on private scenes. Just gonna ignore that toast.

Layla: *smiles and leans against Hana* Thank you. But as the days pass I grow less sure...they could be anywhere in this world. I pray to Neurum every dusk for the knowledge to know what to do...where to look...but I never think of anything..

Hana: I see. Hopefully Neurum will show you an answer one day soon.

Layla: Hana....*blushes slightly*..what is your ideal mate?

Hana: I don't know. I don't think it could be a man if I really don't find any interest in them.

Layla: What about personal qualities?

Hana: Hmmmm... Well, why not you? I know I may be rushing things, but I feel like I really like you. *blushes and looks awaY*

Layla: O///O me?! *blushes deeply* I...I I do not know if I would be a good mate...I do not know the first thing about relationships...

Hana: You don't need to worry. You just need to return my feelings for you and we'll work things out from that.

Layla: *looks away* I do not know...this is all so sudden...I only just met you.

Hana: I know. We met and I'm already in love with you. I just knew I was rushing things. *starts crying*

Layla: I am sorry..*puts her hand on Hana's shoulder* I do not know what to say...I need some time to think about this.

Hana: Alright. *leans against Layla*
