VKRE (RWBY story)

Rana: Oooh yeah, that's a super cute name for him.

Kara: *looks at the time* Augh! We're gonna be late for class! What are we gonna do about Sparky?

Ellie: Well we can't exactly bring him with us to class, and I don't think we should leave him alone in here. I honestly don't know who we should ask to watch him.

Kara: I mean it's not like we can give him a pile of dog food cans and a can opener...hey Valerie, why not just hide him in your cloak?
Valerie: Oh no..no way!

Rana: Why not? I think he'll like it in there.

Valerie: How would you feel if you had to keep a Beowolf in your pants?
Kara: Warm and cozy!
Valerie: Rrr, fine. Give 'im here. *grumbles*
(Kara hands the fox to Valerie, who stuffs him away in her cloak)
Valerie: You better not sneeze sparks in there.

Ellie: It probably won't. *Shrugs* But come on, it's almost time for class.

(later, in their Grimmology class taught by Professor Harden, a stout old hunstman with dark red hair, and a bushy beard)
Harden: Now then, who can tell me all the known varieties of Grimm? Ah, Rana, how about you?

Rana: Well, there are Beowolves, Ursa, Boarbatusks, Nevermores, Death Stalkers, King Taijitu, Goliaths, and the Creeps.

Harden: Correct! I am surprised you knew of the Goliaths, not many are aware of their existence. Has anyone ever seen one?
Valerie: *raises her hand* I have! Once in Vacuo. *a few sparks fly from under her cloak* ......
Harden: Erm...young lady...did you just emit sparks from your cloak?
Valerie: Hehehahahaha nope! *scratches the back of her neck, then tugs her cloak, trying to silence Sparky*
Kara: ...>,> *facepalms*
Harden: *raises an eyebrow, then clears his throat loudly to silence the snickering from the class* Anyway, now the blah blah blah...blah blah blablabla...
Kara: *whispering* Guys what do I do?

Ellie: *Whispers* Find a way to get that thing to behave itself. I don't know otherwise.

Valerie: I don't know how! I've never had a pet before!
Harden: Ah, Miss Verdan! How nice of you to volunteer!
Valerie: Er...pardon?
Harden: For our...live demonstration. *unveils a large, dark cage that's shaking*
Valerie: Umm...
Harden: I was just discussing that a Huntsman or Huntress should be prepared for combat at all times.
Valerie: ....Still not following you.
Harden: You're going to fight a Grimm.

Rana: Well.....it can't be that bad, can it?

Valerie: Heh. Unless you stuffed a Goliath in there, I don't think I'll have anything to worry about.
Harden: Ah, I knew many a huntsman with the same attitude. They are no longer of this world.
Valerie: Um...
Harden: Now, step on down!
(later, after Valerie gets her equipment with Sparky still in her cloak, she stands before the cage. It opens, out skulking a large Grimm panther)
Valerie: What is that?!
Harden: Behold, a newly discovered species of Grimm; the Skulker! One must always be prepared for anything! Good luck!

Rana: You can do it, Valerie. *Starts waving a tiny flag with VKRE on it*

Kara: ...Where did you get that?

(the Skulker lunges at Valerie with lightning speed, and knocks Valerie back, but she regains balance and slices at the beast with one of her discs, it jumps out of the way, then lunges again, only to be blocked by Valerie's discs in a defensive position)
Valerie: Rrrgh...*blasts the beast with the energy beam from her discs, then when it recoils, she slices into it*
(the beast jumps back up, lunges at Valerie again. She holds one of her discs in a defensive position, then sends the other out. When the beast lunges at her, she blocks it, then brings her other disc in to slice off its head)
Valerie: Huff..puff....woooo!
Harden: Hm. Well done, miss Verdan.

Rana: Whoo! Great job, Val.
She cheers excitedly as Ellie quietly claps with a slight smile on her face.

Harden: Yes, as you saw, the Skulker has incredible speed and agility. It was very adaptive of you to react defensively like that.
(the class-end bell sounds)
Harden: Well that's it for today's class. *as everyone starts leaving* Remember that report on Grimm pack movement changes is due tomorrow!
(outside of class, walking to the cafe)
Kara: Great job today, Val!
Valerie: Yeah...

Ellie: Hmm? Is something wrong, Val?

Valerie: Are you guys not put off by that? The Skulker?
Kara: What do you mean?
Valerie: It's a new species of Grimm never seen before. Do you know what that means? There could be thousands of other species we don't even know about.

Rana: I'm not really all that surprised there was a Grimm we didn't know about. I mean, it's a big world out there.

Valerie: I dunno, I just find it kinda worrying is all.
Kara: Don't worry. I'm sure we can handle anything the world throws at us.
(Outside on the way to the outdoor cafe outside the academy, Sparky hops out of Valerie's cloak, and runs off into the forest)
Kara: Hey! Wait!
Valerie: Okay bye!

Rana: Come on, we have to follow it. It might be leading us somewhere.

(Sparky leads the girls back to the dust deposit in the forest, now crawling with Grimm, namely a huge pack of Skulkers.)
Valerie: Wah! *grabs up Sparky, and puts him back in her cloak* What are they doing here?!

Rana: Does it matter what they're doing here? We just gotta kill these things.
