VKRE (RWBY story)

Valerie: It's my tried and true technique!
Kara: Cowardice is not a technique!
Valerie: We're alive, aren't we?
(Valerie trips and falls down a hole in the cave floor)
Kara: *stops Rana and Ellie before they too go down* Crap!

Rana: What do we do? Do we fight off the Grimm while one of us goes to rescue Val or do we jump down after her?

Kara: Umm...uh......Ellie, you should go down there. You can both see in the dark. Rana and I will stay here and fight with fire.

Ellie: Yeah, sure thing. *Jumps down the hole*
Rana: Think we can hold them off?

Kara: We can sure as hell try. *readies her Bramblejack in its assault rifle mode* Get ready to make some fire.

Rana: Well, ready as I'll ever be. *Ignites her hammer*

Kara: You have the first strike when you see a grimm!
(a creep grimm lunges out of the shadows at Rana)

Rana: Get back! *Slams her hammer into its skull*

(Kara goes down to touch the flames, and gets powered up, her hair glowing and crackling with energy as she aims into the darkness, and shoots huge, powered-up beams of dust at the horde of grimm)

(Meanwhile, in the darkness of the cave down which Valerie fell, she makes her way through the subterranean expanse)
Valerie: How far does this stupid cave go?

Ellie: *Slides down the hole using her ax to slow down the fall* You should've thought about that before leading us in here.

Valerie: AH! *jumps and clings to a stalagmite* Were you following me all along?!

Ellie: Obviously yes. I'm not going to leave you alone in this cave.

Valerie: You could've said something! *gets down and dusts herself off* Anyway, what's going on? Are the other two okay?

Ellie: They're holding them off at the hole you fell in.

Valerie: Crap, we have to go up there and help them!

Ellie: How? We don't know where we are or where this path leads.

Valerie: But we can do this! *lowers her discs to the ground, and steps on one, then holds her hand out to Ellie* Just get on that one and grab my hand!

Ellie: Uh...sure. Sure. *Gets onto the disc and holds onto Valeries hand with a slight blush*

Valerie: Now let's go! *uses her semblance to launch her discs forward, speeding down the tunnel like hoverboards* Hrrrgh! *grits her teeth and sweats*

Ellie: Woah! Woah! Too fast!!

Valerie: Not fast enough! Errrgghh! *raises their speed, and they go through a winding tunnel*


Kara: *obliterates the last of the creeps, lowers her smoking Bramblejack, and wipes the sweat from her forehead* Phew...that's all of them. Thanks for the fire, Rana!

Valerie whisks them through the tunnel, and they land in a large cave room, her discs clattering to the floor
Valerie: *lying on the ground and panting* We...made it....

Into the light of the fire steps large, ape-like grimm with long lanky arms and legs, spikes on his shoulders and back, and a long, whip-like tongue.
Kara: Wh...what is that?

Ellie: Where are we, though?

Rana: Does it matter? It's a grimm.

Valerie: We seem to be...in a cave...

Kara: Yeah yeah. *loads a fire dust cartridge into her weapon* Let's kill it, then. *starts firing at the beast, who blocks the shots with the spikes on its shoulder*

Ellie: I can see that, but what is this room.

Rana throws her hammer, exploding against the Grimm's arm.

Valerie: It's...a cave room...*smirks at Ellie*

the Gloomlurker recoils from the blast, and brings his arms up very slowly
Kara: Eh? What's it doing?
