Later, at the barracks
Natalie: So we get beds that are right next to each other? This sucks...

Tyler: You'd think they'd at least keep us in separate rooms. *Groans in annoyance* I really hope this isn't because they thought I was a girl....

Natalie: I mean, can you blame them? Lookit you!

Tyler: Don't remind me. I'm a guy, I shouldn't look cute and girly.

Natalie: I dunno, you could cut your hair or something. It'd be a start.

Tyler: I'm not cutting my hair; besides, I doubt it'd do much to help

Natalie: Oh well, you'll just have to live with sleeping next to the Flatulent Alchemist. *takes off her coat and sits down on her bed in a huff, taking off her boots*

Tyler: Well, at least we have separate beds...

The next morning, Natalie comes back from the showers, wrapped in a towel
Natalie: It's your turn, I guess. Man, I'm starving. I wonder if they serve breakfast at the cafeteria...

Tyler: I honestly don't see why they wouldn't.

Natalie: *goes over to her bed and finds the chimera from last night curled up in it* Wah! *falls over backwards*
The chimera slowly wakes up and looks around
Chimera: ...mm? Why are you on the floor?
Natalie: Hold on there! Why are you in my bed?!
Chimera: I was tired...it smelled nice.

Tyler: But why are you here?

Chimera: I couldn't sleep in the bed they gave me, so I came down here.
Natalie: were you there...all night?
Chimera: ....maybe.
Natalie: ......... ooookay....so uh...what's your name?
Chimera: name....I...I don't remember..

Tyler: How do you not remember your own name?

Chimera: I...I don't know...i don't even know what it starts with...
Natalie: Hey, it's okay...*to Tyler* can you be a bit more sensitive?

Tyler: You're right, but how was I supposed to know she'd be like this?

Natalie: Maybe just a little empathy? This transmutation has obviously left her with amnesia.

Tyler: I figured that's what happened. Should we bring her back to them? We can't exactly keep her with us.

Later on, as Tyler and Natalie are walking through the halls, they are approached by Fuhrer Roy Mustang.
Mustang: Ah, you two must be the new recruits. The Chaos and Gaseous Alchemists, right?
Natalie: Fuhrer Mustang! Yeah, we are!
Mustang: I understand that you are the ones who found our chimera guest.

Tyler: Yeah, that's us. So what's going to happen to her?

Mustang: It's still...up in the air. Until her family can be found, she'll be a guest of the military. Yeoman is interrogating the old couple, and hopefully they'll give us the information we need. If not, I'll step in. That's why I came from Central, for my firsthand experience with chimeras.
Natalie: Lieutenant Yeoman said they won't experiment on her. Is that true?
Mustang: It is. But if we hit a dead end in researching how to bring back her human form, something like that may be the only option.

Tyler: Well then we'll do whatever we can to make sure it doesn't come to that.

Yeoman: *approaches from behind the young alchemists* The initial interrogation is over. It turns out that...the chimera is their granddaughter. Her parents died in the coup.

Tyler: She's their granddaughter and they've done that to her?

Natalie: Those...monsters!
Mustang: Why would they do such a thing? Make sure you work out a motive.
Yeoman: Yes, fuhrer.
Natalie: So.. what should we do?
Yeoman: Focus on your research for now. We'll handle this case.
