Pokemon: Amethyst Redux

Aki: Uh huh..... >.> Hey, what's that over there?
Aki points off behind Serena and runs into the gym when Serena turned around to look.

(inside the gym, the gym leader is talking to the archaeologist from earlier)
gym leader: *sighs* There's been a rise in Pokemon-related crimes lately, but I had no idea they wanted the fossils... What are we to do now-*sees Aki* Oh! Hello, young miss. I'm sorry, but the gym is currently closed.
archaeologist: No! Sanders, that's one of the trainers that went after Team Nova! Tell me, did you retrieve the fossils from those scoundrels?

Aki: Well we got most of them, but their boss ran off a few of them. We haven't been able to find her though.

Sanders: Well then, I suppose I should let you keep them for your efforts.
archaeologist: Now, wait, what?!
Sanders: Also, you can challenge me if you want to now!
archaeologist: How does that make sense?!
Sanders: Go, Numel! *sends out his Numel*
archaeologist: ........screw it, I quit. *leaves*

Aki grins cutely as he grabs Marsh's pokeball and sends him out.
Aki: Ready when you are sir.

Sanders: Numel, Ember!
(the numel spits a little ball of flame at Marsh)

The flames hit Marsh but deal minimal damage to the water pokemon.
Aki: Okay Marsh, use water gun!
Aki's Marsh spews out a small stream out at Sanders' Numel.

Sanders: Alright then, go Camerupt! *sends out his Camerupt* Magnitude!
(the camerupt sends small quakes of the floor at Marsh)
curator: MY MUSEUM! NO!

Marsh staggers from the powerful ground type move but despite the heavy damage, it still stands.
Aki: Marsh, you okay?
Marsh nods in response.
Aki: Good, use another water gun!
Marsh spews another stream of water, hitting Camerupt directly in the forehead.

Sanders: Take Down!
(the Camerupt recoils, then lunges at Marsh halfhazardly)

Aki: Marsh, dodge it and water gun once more!
Marsh leaps to the side just seconds before the Camerupt rams it and sprays its side with water.

Sanders: Astonishing. Well, get ready for my signature Pokemon!
....
Sanders: He's underground.
....
Sanders: Using dig....
....
Sanders: ALRIGHT ALREADY, JUST USE THE ATTACK! *stomps on the ground*
(Sanders' Drillbur emerges from the floor, striking Marsh with his claws with a subterranean attack)

Marsh faints from the blow.
Aki: Ah, Marsh! Return!! *Returns Marsh to his ball and sends out Star* Okay Star, up to you. Wing Attack!
Star flies up to the Drillbur and smacks it with its wings.

Sanders: Metal Claw!
(the Drillbur lunges up at the Starly, and slashes at it with its claws)

Staravia now, actually

The claws manage to graze Staravia's chest, but otherwise it's unharmed.
Aki: Star, use another Wing Attack!
Staravia smacks Drillbur's face with its wings again.

o, so it conveniently evolved offscreen?

(the Drillbur catches Staravia's wing, and uses that as leverage to get up and Metal Claw its face)

They had plenty of time to get a pokemon up to level 15

Aki: Star, you have get away from there! Wing Attack it!
Staravia smacks Drillbur's face with its wing with enough strength to loosen its grip on its other wing.

(the Drillbur falls to the ground, KO'd)
Sanders: Huh. Well alright then. *goes over to Aki* Well young lady, you've earned yourself the Soil Badge! *gives her the badge* Also, take this! *gives her a TM* It contains dig, my Drillbur's most powerful move. It can also help you escape tunnels and dungeons! Also, with the badge, your Pokemon can use Rock Smash outside of battle!

Aki: Oh thank you so much, sir. ^^
Aki smiles victoriously as he pins the badge onto his trainer ID before turning to his Staravia.
Aki: You did great, Star. I'm really proud of you and Marsh. ^^ *Returns Star to its pokeball*

Riley: Now use wing attack, Fiona!
Riley's starly attacks a cacnea and evolves after KOing it.
Riley: Alright! Climbing the ladder of maturity!

(outside, the sun sets, Danny is meditating, reading the feelings and thoughts of Dratini and Eevee)
Lia: *sighs* I'm bored...I wonder if Aki is done yet...why does she want the badges anyway? They're just bits of metal. The Man keeps telling us they have special abilities with them, but everyone knows that's Tauros droppings.
Danny: ........e-GEH!
(Eevee starts to shine, and evolves into Umbreon)
Danny: It evolved! Those circles on him...they're glowing!

Aki exits the gym with a smile on his face.
Aki: Well that was a lot of fun. Now to find the Pokemon center and the others.
Aki stops in his tracks and looks around the town.
Aki: Hmm.....now where is the Pokemon center? Or the others?

Lia and Danny are waiting outside the gym

Oh....I thought they would be somewhere else when you said that meditating part.

Aki: *Notices Danny and Lia nearby* Oh, there you are guys. ^^

Riley comes up to them.
Riley: Hey guys! Fiona turned into a staravia. Just like Aki's staravia. ^ ^
